2026 Rebate Update: Federal Tax Credits Have Changed
The Section 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit expired on December 31, 2025. Mini splits installed in 2026 are not eligible for the former $2,000 federal tax credit. Many guides have not updated this information.
The new path: HOMES rebates of up to $8,000 are now available in approximately 23 states. Income-qualified households may receive even more through the HEEHRA program. Many utility companies offer separate $300 to $1,500 rebates that stack with federal programs.
